Dr. Ric Crowder opened this practice in 2006 as the third dentist in his family. His oldest daughter, Dr. Kayla Burdette, is the fourth. Both trained at UMKC, as her grandfather and great-grandfather did before them.

Dr. Ric CrowderDDS, FAGD
He opened this practice in 2006 and has treated Lenexa families in the same chair ever since.
Dr. Crowder is a third-generation dentist. He graduated from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry, and he continues post-doctoral study in advanced dentistry every year. Whether a visit is a routine cleaning or a full rebuild, the work is done with the same care.
He earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2017. It took 500 hours of continuing dental education, a comprehensive written examination, and three years of continuing membership with the AGD.
He has served as President of the Kansas Academy of General Dentistry and as Chair of the Dental Practice Council for the national Academy of General Dentistry.
Ric is married to Susan, a board-certified veterinary dentist. They have three children, who can often be seen helping out at the office. Away from the chair he reads, runs, spends time with his kids, and is involved with his church and its mission work at home and abroad.

Dr. Kayla BurdetteDDS
Dr. Crowder’s oldest daughter, and the fourth generation of this family to practise dentistry.
Dr. Burdette graduated from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry, the same school her father, her grandfather and her great-grandfather attended. She grew up spending school breaks around this office, working the front desk and assisting chairside.
One of her earliest memories here is from shortly after the doors opened in 2006, putting stamps on envelopes and assembling take-home bags on her days off school. Those jobs were good fun for an eight-year-old. She is now glad to be delivering care to the community she grew up in.
She works alongside her patients rather than at them, and she is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the Kansas Dental Association. She is on track to earn her own Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Kayla is married to her high-school sweetheart, Jace. They have a son, JJ, whom you may meet around the office; she is fairly sure part of the reason she still works here is so that Grandad gets to see him. Out of the office, the Burdettes are outside, with friends and family, or watching Kansas City sport.
One address on West 87th Street Parkway since 2006
Three of Dr. Crowder’s children can often be seen helping out at the office, which is roughly how Dr. Burdette started here herself. The front desk knows the families who walk in, and most of them have been coming for years.
We treat children and adults, and we would rather see you for a cleaning than for the thing a missed cleaning turns into. If you are new to the practice, the first appointment is a full examination so that nothing is recommended before it has been looked at.
